The firm started in 2003, when three litigation partners of an elite Texas law firm pursued their vision for a new firm.

VB is devoted exclusively to the handling of complex business and specialty litigation—the tough ones. The firm’s office is located in Austin, Texas, but most of its cases are not in Austin. At the first anniversary of VB, the lawyers and staff voted to make a contribution to a local charity rather than lavish money on a party for themselves. For his work in defending constitutional attacks to the State of Texas’ system for funding community legal service organizations, Britt Buchanan received the Edmund S. Muskie Pro Bono Service Award from the Tort and Insurance Section of the ABA.
